Funny, I'd been thinking a lot about Neil Diamond, for one reason or another, just a few days before this news broke. He was hardly a maverick, but a steady talented worker, a back-office songwriter who managed at last to break through recording his own songs. And "Crackling Rosie" was the song most in my head...though for the life of me I have no idea what it means.

Steven, do you hate Neil Diamond as a performer, as a songwriter, or both? I'd argue that Diamond the songwriter definitely is worthwhile.
